Can you believe we are already here?? 2020 has been the longest year ever and has also flown by so quickly. It was full of amazing ups and too many downs, but I am so thankful for the opportunities it brought me as an Orlando portrait photographer. Not only did Jack and I get married this year, but we had 46 amazing clients in 2020. During a 9 month and counting pandemic? That’s a true blessing to me. Today, you’ll see a roundup of 2020 with my clients! Plus, something I was really surprised about: the amount of family sessions and engagement sessions we had this year!
Choosing ONE photo from each session was so freaking hard. There will also be a couple clients mentioned that you won’t see photos for as I am respecting their privacy (but they deserved to be bragged about!!). Enjoy my Best of 2020 Year in Review!
Ahh yes. The start of 2020, when everything seemed so normal. It was going to be everyone’s year. That wasn’t necessarily the case, as we all found out, but I got to start it off with an amazing group! First, Martha and John celebrated their 25 year anniversary with a couples session in Harmony, Florida. That same day, we met with Alexis and Kyle out in Winter Park for their engagement session! We also shared in the love with two more couples in January for their engagement sessions. Ellisa and Dustin met us out in Saint Augustine for their session at Washington Oaks Garden, while Kaela and Mike had theirs in Lakeland at Hollis Gardens. So much love in January!
February was still a hot month of 2020 for us Orlando portrait photographers! I started the month down in Sarasota with Olivia and Cameron for their engagement session! I cannot believe they are getting married in just 3 days!! Ahhh! Nolan and his mom, Heather, celebrated his first birthday at New Smyrna beach with a mommy and me session. My favorite twins (Ari and Kai) rang in their second birthday looking oh so cool. Later that month, they partied again with the entire Simmons and Patel families! Jack and I also took on a last minute Leap Year wedding for Melanie and John with a beautiful Hawaiian theme.
March. The dreaded month of 2020. We officially started shutting down and put in our safety precautions. But, before the lockdown, we were able to have a few more sessions! I met up with Rachel and Jayson at the beginning of March for their engagement session in Groveland. Abby was treated to a mini modeling session by her mom! Jack and I also headed to Titusville to celebrate Lilly’s first birthday with a unicorn theme. Lilly was our last session before we completely shut down (and we weren’t sure for how long…).
April took a weird turn. First, we celebrated Jack’s 31st birthday, the first for us in quarantine. As many of you may know, I also photograph often at the local preschool and have a corporate client in the billboard world! Billboards TOOK OFF in April and I became an essential worker in a way you wouldn’t think of. Advertising was huge and getting the THANK YOU out to the frontline workers was essential. Schools also had to shut down, and our preschool decided to go virtual, something not many in the area were doing. April was full of recording 2 months of content for 4 different classes!! I was also featured on the news with the director of the preschool (hey, Mom) for our efforts. Not something I expected 2020 to bring, but amazing nonetheless.
The restrictions in my town slowly started lifting in May. I was very weary to photography again, but with precautions in place, I was able to bring two clients joy! My first session was with Jamie and her family to embrace their newest little one heading into the crazy year of 2020. Sweet Gentry also was able to celebrate his first birthday with an adorable dinosaur cake smash! On the 25th, we celebrated my 25th birthday in quarantine. So odd, but honestly, I loved it. I’m a major homebody!
June was my first month back in the swing of things for 2020. I was in full on wedding planning mode, while also taking on some sessions! The first week of the month was full of mini sessions for the preschoolers who didn’t get to have their normal graduation photos. Then, Marcy celebrated her new baby girl with her family during a maternity session at Cypress Grove Park. Alice and Andie had an adorable sister pool session together and boy, did it look refreshing! Finally, a session very close to my heart took place in Melbourne. The Kopp family updated their family photos with their father who had end stage cancer.
Wedding month!!!! July was fairly quiet in terms of sessions for me as an Orlando portrait photographer, but it usually is here in Florida. It’s so damn hot!!! Irelis was a freaking trooper and celebrated her graduation from UCF at sunrise to try to beat some of the heat. The rest of the month consisted of me finalizing all wedding plans and Jack helping where I’d let him. We flew out to Aspen, Colorado and spent a week exploring with our family, best friends, and each other. July 29, 2020 came and went so quickly and I miss it so much. More on our wedding to come on a different Year in Review blog (and you can also check out our wedding here).
The wedding was over and we had to get back to normal. August was still a slow month of 2020 because it was still so hot here! First, I met the newest cover band, L&G Live, at The Heavy for a band promo shoot. They really took off in quarantine!! Jack and I also celebrated Kenly’s third birthday with her and her family at the St. Cloud Lakefront.
The last month of Florida’s summer slump! Woo!! September 2020 brought back some old clients, gave me new ones, and some in between! Donna gathered her family together for an extended family session in Downtown Winter Garden. Olivia celebrated her first birthday with a bumblebee cake smash session. Finally, Emmie took to the wilderness for her first birthday at Lake Runnymede.
October officially brought the craziness for us in 2020. The Bassett family had a mini family portrait session at Lake Runnymede! Jack and I shared our first “mini-moon” together in my home state of New Jersey since we didn’t have an actual honeymoon. While we were there, we had an engagement session at Kingsland Park with my godsister Laura and her fiancé, Jon! When we returned from New Jersey, our Fall mini sessions were in full force after rain reschedules. October also brought Maggie’s first birthday with a session at New Smyrna Beach! Stella had her first birthday celebration at Split Oak Forest. L&G Live met up with us for a holiday promo shoot, and Shiraz and Jeff had such a fun session with their pup, Layla. October also brought an amazing gift to me! I had the opportunity to team up with Dancing With the Stars Pros Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach to help them with their new Wedding Dance School! Ahhh!
The holiday season has started! November was a crazy month in 2020 for families! But first, we celebrated Siobhan and Bobby‘s love at their wedding in the beginning of the month. We also finished up our fall mini sessions (the rain was CRAZY this year!!!). The Rice family updated their family photos and the Collings family loved on their new pup in their family portraits. Finally, I had a very special session with the Richmond family, who share a very similar story to us (I’ve been friends with them for 10 years!!).
The last month of 2020 was officially here, but nothing slowed down! Leilah and Derek celebrated her 40th birthday with a gifted session from her sisters! Sasha updated her boudoir photos for her 2nd anniversary. Tori and Frank captured their love with an engagement session in Winter Park. Colin is officially one and had the most adorable racecar first birthday! Darshini and Jeremiah both made it through their last semesters of college and graduated from UCF. Meera and Kunal had their first family photos done with their new baby boy! The Scabarozi family was back for an updated holiday portrait session. And to finish off the year, the entire Greenleaf family met me for an extended family session!
2020 has been absolutely bonkers and I never expected any of it for a second. I am so so thankful for each and every one of these clients for trusting us in this insane year. 2020 has taught me so much personally and professionally as an Orlando portrait photographer. I cannot wait to see what 2021 holds. Tomorrow, you will see our behind the scenes from this year, and you won’t want to miss the craziness!
