We have another first birthday coming up in a few weeks! You may remember little Miss Stella from her Fresh 48 session last November, or her older brother, Lincoln, who had his own first birthday session with me! She has grown so much in her first year of life. I am so excited to share her first birthday session at Split Oak Forest with you all today!
I first met the Pierce family in April of 2018 when Amy reached out about photos for Lincoln’s first birthday. They were such a sweet and down to earth family! Last year, Amy reached out and told me that they were expecting a little girl in November. I was so excited for them! We set up a Fresh 48 session at Winnie Palmer and it was honestly one of the most adorable Fresh 48 sessions to date. Lincoln was proving how amazing of a big brother he was going to be during that session!
As a Florida portrait photographer, I am also playing weatherwoman. I am constantly having to track the radar to see when Florida will decide to grace us with insane weather! This weekend was no exception. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous with it’s new “Fall” weather, and Sunday was looking amazing as well. That is, until Sunday morning when I woke up. 75% chance of rain starting at 2pm! I love photographing in the evenings for the gorgeous lighting, and our session was set for 5:30. I knew it wasn’t going to work, but rescheduling is always difficult. Especially when a cake smash is involved! I emailed Amy and we both worked quickly to rearrange the schedules.
We ran out to one of my favorite portrait locations, Split Oak Forest, at 1:30pm to miss the rain. Of course, it DOWNPOURED on our way out there!! However, the skies opened up and we were able to have an amazing first birthday for Miss Stella. We started our session by updating their family portraits, as they hadn’t had any since Stella was born! Afterwards, we set up Amy’s decor for Stella’s cake smash. When I tell you that this girl LOVES cake, I’m not kidding. She grabbed straight on to it with two fists and devoured almost the entire thing. Lincoln really wanted in on the cake action, and had to jump in quick before Stella ate it all! It was so adorable. Finally, Amy and Bob grabbed some forks for a quick bite. You really can’t go wrong with a Publix cake!!
Amy and Bob, thank you so much for trusting me over the years with your family’s portraits! I have loved getting to know you all and I hope more sessions are in our future! Take a peek at Stella’s first birthday celebration.
