Friends, we have a special engagement session for you today! Our dear friends, Sasha and Joey, referred this awesome couple to us and we couldn’t be happier! Melissa and Barrett are fellow photographers, focusing on bands and portraits. We knew that this session would be a blast and would have a unique spin, but it was even better than we could have imagined! Melissa and Barrett were so much fun and introduced us to our new favorite location: Twin Oaks!!
Melissa and Barrett met at Warped Tour 2012 in West Palm Beach. They were both photographing that day and struck up a conversation when a close friend introduced them. They are both avid photographers, foodies, movie goers, and love to game whenever they have the time! Melissa and Barrett knew they were meant to be when they saw that they could be themselves and talk about everything together. It had been that way from the very start of their relationship and never changed!
Barrett and Melissa took a cruise with her family to Cozumel, Mexico. They went out on their balcony on the second day of the cruise and Barrett was so nervous. He popped the question and completely surprised Melissa because he made it clear he wasn’t going to propose on the cruise! Her ring is a vintage style custom ring made out of white gold and has a princess cut diamond. Barrett took Melissa to several stores to see what style she liked and he discovered that this ring was her favorite!
This awesome couple met us out at Twin Oaks Conservation Area in Kissimmee for a sunrise session. There was not a cloud in sight and it the perfect weather for a session. Jack and I had never been to Twin Oaks before, but holy cow was it gorgeous! Our usual conservation area in town is filled with huge oak trees and greenery. When we arrived to Twin Oaks, we were met with the most beautiful golden fields that the sun reflected perfectly. We were in love and Melissa and Barrett made the location even more beautiful!
We then travelled to the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. It is a historical village with authentic structures that once stood in our city! We spent most of our time at the replica 1800s train depot which has an old strip of train tracks. The village also has a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, church (where you can actually get married!!), and more. The last time I had been to the Pioneer Village was in 8th grade for a project filmed in the schoolhouse and it was just as I had remembered! Such a unique engagement and wedding location!
Melissa and Barrett will be getting married at Hastings Ranch this November and we couldn’t be more excited!! It is such a gorgeous venue and one of our favorites. Take a peek below at their engagement session at Twin Oaks and the Pioneer Village!
