There is so much to do in the Siesta Key area. However, I have found some of the most appealing and highly-rated activities out there. From animal sightings to keeping those little toes in the sand, the family fun is endless!
If you’re looking for something that won’t become repetitive, this is the place to visit. The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature creates an environment of discovery for children of all ages. In addition, the museum‘s vision aims to contribute to a world where people are able to connect to nature and science alike. The museum maintains a few year-round exhibits, including Mosaic Backyard Universe, the fossil exhibit, the manatee exhibit, and more. The museum also rotates with new exhibits! If you are planning to visit soon, you should definitely check out the new Dinoventure exhibit!
Do you happen to have little jungle explorers in the family? This awesome experience is great for families who want to spend the day looking at animals for a super low price! The Sarasota Jungle Gardens allows you to bring in your little one ages zero to three for free. In addition, ages four to twelve are $12.99 per ticket, and adult tickets are $19.99. Make sure to book your day in advance for these awesome prices though, as walk-up tickets are slightly more expensive. While taking in your visit, make sure to check out the show schedules for the day to catch some cool wildlife showings. If you’re looking for more than just your typical jungle visit, you can also book birthday parties, animal interactions, and private animal experiences!
If you’re still looking for some things to do in Siesta Key with toddlers, this one is a staple! While Siesta Key has a beach at every turn, one beach I think you should check out is Turtle Beach. With sparkling white sand that stays cool to the touch and crystal waters, you really can’t beat this one. This beach is known for its beautiful seashells that wash up onshore. So if your little one is keen on decorating his or her sandcastle at the end of the day, you’ll have plenty to choose from. Turtle Beach is also a great place to swim for little ones because of the shallow waters. In addition, if the kids are wanting something other than swimming for the day, the beach offers nearby playgrounds and picnic tables for lunch.
Want something to do indoors when it’s a little too hot to be outside? You should definitely check out the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium! Bring your little ones to meet sea turtles, sharks, fish, manatees, and more any day of the year. Your kids will have an opportunity to explore touch pools, speak to animal specialists, and interact with hands-on exhibits. General admission includes access to the aquarium and all of the exhibits in the research and rehabilitation center. Tickets must be purchased in advance online and will be reserved in 15 minute increments for arrival times. Check out the tickets here!
