During the summer in Florida, you never know what to expect when it comes to portraits sessions. The only guarantee is extreme heat!! My third birthday session at the Saint Cloud Lakefront with Kenly was no exception to the unexpected, though.
I first met this sweet family when Kenly’s sister, Cora, attended the preschool I work at! Both girls are such sweethearts and little models. During graduation photos this past May, I was talking to their mom, Christine, about how Kenly never had professional photos done! They wanted to celebrate her third birthday with a session, and I jumped at the opportunity. She is too adorable not to be in front of the camera!
About a week later, Kenly unfortunately broke her leg while playing. This poor girl had a full neon-green cast on for most of the summer!! Thankfully, her birthday was at the end of August and we kept our fingers crossed that she would be able to get it off in time. And she did! We scheduled Kenly’s third birthday session at the Saint Cloud Lakefront and were so excited to capture this moment for the family. The weather did NOT want to play nice, but after a little rearranging and playing it by ear, we finally got to meet up.
Kenly was so excited for her session at the Saint Cloud Lakefront. She walked right up to me and hugged my leg, ready to start! Kenly was so full of smiles and laughter during her session. She had the most adorable pink dress and the cutest Baby Shark dress (her third birthday theme!). Kenly loved chasing the bubbles that Jack was blowing. She also loved building sandcastles with Cora! The moment I saw her light up the most, though, was when Jack pulled out a pink balloon for her to walk around with. So cute!!
There was one other *unexpected* moment from our third birthday session that I think it would be a disservice NOT to share. As we were shooting at the Saint Cloud Lakefront, the wildlife was quite active. This includes the duck population. We’re not exactly sure what occurred, whether Kenly ran too close or he was simply just ready to leave, but a duck took flight during our session… Right towards Kenly!!! Everything was absolutely fine and Kenly was only scared for a second, but the adults all had a good laugh. It’s definitely the summary of 2020!
Christine and Clayton, thank you so much for the laughs and trusting me with your sweet girls! I absolutely loved working with you both and I can’t wait for the next session. Take a peek into Kenly’s third birthday session at the Saint Cloud Lakefront and be sure to leave her some love in the comments!
