We all know by now that 2020 hasn’t been the greatest year. It seems like every week, something new arises. Besides brides, seniors and graduates have probably been hit hardest this year when it comes to cancelling celebrations. When Irelis reached out to me for a summer graduation session, there was no way I was going to turn down the opportunity to help someone celebrate. There were many roadblocks in the process, but Irelis had an amazing graduation session at UCF on Friday!
UCF has been closed like the rest of the country since March. I honestly was a bit nervous to even be on campus, but capturing these memories was super important to me! Plus, I’d never turn down shooting at my alma mater. Before the session, I found out from UCF that all the buildings were locked down and during the session, we found half of the campus under construction. AHHH. Many of Irelis’s requested locations and my go-to spots were not able to be accessed! My motto throughout undergrad at UCF was “Designers, make it work” (thanks, Tim Gunn), and that has never changed. This summer graduation really made me think and adjust on the fly, but I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better session.
Irelis was such a trooper during her UCF summer graduation session. From the intense heat, walking back and forth across campus in heels, to making locations work, she was so full of smiles and laughter. I couldn’t have asked for a better model. These photos were so important in remembering the good parts of this year, like completing her undergrad in Health Informatics and Information Management! I can’t wait to see her complete her master’s degree and where life takes her next! Enjoy a sneak peek into her session below.
Do you know an upcoming UCF graduate who deserves amazing photos of their journey?? Send them here to book their session today!
