I love Leap Year. It adds another wonderful day in the year to spend with your loved ones. It becomes even MORE special, though, when you are married that day! When Melanie reached out to me a few weeks before their big day for photography, I couldn’t say no! Taking place at the Orlando Airport Marriott Lakeside, these two took “A Leap of Faith” and said their vows with a Hawaiian themed wedding overlooking the lake.
Melanie and John met while working at Home Depot together (where they still work together now!). They had two ADORABLE little ones a few years down the road. On Leap Day in 2020, they decided it was time to make their family officially by becoming one. Melanie has family from Hawaii and strong roots there, so they based their theme off of Melanie’s heritage. They even flew in fresh flowers from Hawaii! John and his father wore Maile-Style leis while Melanie and her daughters adorned a pikake lei and haku leis in their hair.
John and Melanie were surrounded by their closest friends and family on their wedding day. John’s 100 year old grandmother, Myra, was even in attendance. She was such a delight! Truly, both sides of the family were so welcoming even just knowing us for a short period of time. John’s father and Melanie’s sister both gave tear producing speeches that brought the families closer together and showed immense love for Melanie and John’s children.
This wedding was such a joy to be a part of and I am so thankful they were able to celebrate their union before this worldwide pandemic set in. I’m so excited to share their day with you today. Enjoy a peek of Melanie and John’s Hawaiian themed wedding at the Orlando Airport Marriott Lakeside!
