Central Carolina Fair 2023

Fairs are a classic way to bring together a community, and the Central Carolina Fair is the perfect example! 2023 will be its 124th year in operation, and it’s bigger than ever before! For two entire weeks, you and your family can take advantage of everything the fall fair has to offer Greensboro, NC.

Fair-goers of all ages will love the 2023 Central Carolina Fair’s assortment of rides. Whether you’re a thrill seeker or have a little one who may prefer a gentler, more kid-friendly ride, they have them all. When your stomach has settled, you definitely want to indulge in some old-fashioned fair food, including corn dogs, candy apples, and funnel cakes (is it even a fair if you don’t have a funnel cake??)

Wilkie Farms’ annual animal exhibit will also be returning, featuring non-native and traditional farm animals and pony rides. You’ll definitely want to take in the thrill show from Hamid Circus, featuring daring aerial acts and clowning. Whatever you love about a traditional fair, the Central Carolina Fair 2023 has it for you.

Halloween Spooky Hoopla

While some people enjoy fall for the pumpkin spice lattes and changing leaves, other Greensboro, NC people live for Halloween. Candy, costumes, haunted houses – what’s not to love?! Halloween Spooky Hoopla in High Point is a family-friendly celebration of the spookiest holiday of the year. At the heart of the event is a “Trunk or Treat” experience, where volunteers pass out candy to costumed kiddos from the trunk of their cars. Trick-or-treating the week before Halloween?? Score!!

Halloween Spooky Hoopla isn’t just about candy, though. There are also attractions like bounce houses, a haunted trail, hayrides, and more! The event is totally free, although food trucks will have tasty treats available for purchase. They’re also still looking for volunteers to hand out candy from the trunks of their cars, so if you want to participate, be sure to reach out to the City of High Point!

BOO at the NC ZOO

There are few things better than spending a day at the Zoo! The North Carolina Zoo is a wonderful organization right here in our backyard that is home to over 1,700 animals from all over the world. When you visit, you’ll be able to see animals like African elephants and lions, chimpanzees, giraffes, polar bears, gorillas, and more. There are also attractions like a carousel, a butterfly garden, an Air Hike Ropes Course, and lots of great walking paths. Visiting the North Carolina Zoo helps them fund their important conservation efforts and helps to educate guests about ways every person can contribute to saving the planet!

While you never need an excuse to visit the North Carolina Zoo from Greensboro, NC, Boo at the Zoo is a great way to celebrate the fall season. Have your kids dress up in their Halloween costumes to compete in the costume contest, and enjoy live entertainment as you wander through the Zoo! Trick-or-Treat on the pathways of their Africa exhibit, and enjoy engaging storytelling experiences. Boo at the Zoo is a fantastic and safe daytime Halloween celebration perfect for kids of all ages. Participating in Boo at the Zoo does come with an event fee in addition to your zoo entrance ticket, but it isn’t expensive – and members receive a special discount!

Potters’ Pumpkin Patch Trail in Seagrove

The problem with fresh pumpkins is that they only last one season. But the pumpkins and gourds at Potter’s Pumpkin Patch Trail in Seagrove are ceramic, so they’ll last year after year! Every fall outside Greensboro, NC, a group of Seagrove artists and potters come together to showcase and sell their pumpkin pottery. Stop by any of the participating storefronts to pick up a Potter’s Pumpkin Patch map and a list of special events offered at every location. You’ll be able to browse beautiful pumpkins, fall-scented candles, and much more!

Seagrove is actually known for its pottery; it’s home to the largest concentration of working potters in the country! Whether you’re looking for decorative artwork, practical pieces, or an undiscovered treasure, you’ll likely find it in one of Seagrove’s 50 pottery studios. It’s a beautiful area and a peaceful way to spend a day – though it may be better suited for older children or a grown-up’s day out!
