Learning where food comes from is an important thing for our kids to learn, and there’s no better way to teach them than to let them learn it hands-on! Picking your own fruits, veggies, and flowers is the perfect way to appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into bringing food to our tables. Not to mention that spending the day wandering apple orchards is an incredible way to spend a fall day, especially in beautiful Greensboro! If you’re looking for a place for Greensboro apple picking<span data-preserver-spaces=”true”>, check out Millstone Creek Orchards and Blueberry Thrill Farm for an amazing experience!

Two Beautiful Orchards for Greensboro Apple Picking

Millstone Creek Orchards

Millstone Creek Orchards has practically perfected the fall agritourism experience! With pumpkins, sunflowers, and, of course, apple picking, the essence of a Greensboro fall thrives at Millstone Creek. They have created the ultimate Apple Orchard Adventure, an exciting, interactive, and fun excursion for all ages. In 75 minutes, you’ll experience an orchard hayride, press and drink your own apple cider, and head home with a quarter peck of freshly picked apples!

Unfortunately, due to frosts earlier in the year, Millstone Creek lost about 70% of their apple crops. As a result, they’re only doing one day of U-pick apples this year. But don’t worry. There’s still plenty of apples to enjoy, just pre-picked. Plus, with your Apple Orchard Adventure ticket, you can pick your own pecans to scratch the itch.

In addition to the Apple Orchard Aventure, Millstone Creek offers U-pick sunflower experiences perfect for pictures (sometimes with baby highland cows from nearby Cellar Creek Farm!), live music, art classes, and pumpkin picking. You also have to stop by Granny’s bakery for fresh apple cider donuts, wine cake, apple bread, candy apples, pumpkin rolls, and plenty of other sweet treats. Come hungry and ready for some fun Greensboro apple picking!!

Blueberry Thrill Farm

Blueberry Thrill Farm began in 1982 with plantings of blueberries and blackberries. Owners Rick and Nan Langhorne used their farm as a “real-world classroom” for their sons, teaching them the value of hard work and respecting the land. They soon realized that these were lessons that every family should be able to share with their children, and they opened their farm to the public to do just that.

Today, the farm is run by Rick and Nan’s youngest son, who looks over the property’s apple and peach orchards, berry bushes, and day-to-day operations. The farm is currently in the process of expanding to include tomatoes, muscadine grapes, and flowers, all of which are available to customers.

In the fall, Greensboro families can visit Blueberry Thrill Farm to experience the joy and reward of picking their own apples right off the tree. Their U-pick fall hours are only on Saturday mornings, so make sure you’re up nice and early for a morning on the farm! While you’re there, you may also be able to pick your own pumpkins and muscadine grapes, depending on the timing of the harvests. It’s a simple and wholesome U-pick experience where apple picking is the heart of your visit.
