While the bumper cars, zip line, and Big Baller attractions are better for bigger kids. They also have a toddler playground perfect for littler kids! It has plenty of play equipment for toddlers to crawl over, under, through, and around. They also feature lots of interactive elements to encourage discovery, development of fine motor skills, and imagination. When you’re done playing for the day, check out the cabana for a delicious snack or drink and refuel for your next play session.
If your kiddo takes to the Safari Nation toddler playground like a fish to water, you may want to consider their VIP membership. So you and your kiddo can return again and again…and again…and again!
Adventure Landing is fun for the whole family! It has plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy! Including bumper boats (open seasonally), a full arcade, and an 18-hole mini golf course. While the bumper boats and arcade may be better for older kids, mini golf is fun for everyone. Including toddlers! Make your way through the entire course together, enjoying their beautifully landscaped lawns and foliage. Their courses challenge every skill level. But are simple enough for making memories with even your littlest golfer! Journey through tunnels, under waterfalls, and over mountains as you engage in a little friendly competition, and once you’ve completed your game, be sure to stop by the themed snack shop for a treat!
Salem Gymnastics and Swim is a trusted name in Winston-Salem gymnastics and swimming. For nearly 45 years, they’ve provided a fun, safe, and professional place to learn, play, and be active! Jump-N-Fun delivers exactly what its name proclaims – plenty of jumping and LOTS of fun! The facility is a large space with colorful and exciting bouncy attractions for active jumpers of all ages. They’re known for hosting awesome private birthday parties, but they also have Open Jump, when they open to the public for anyone to come and play. Disco Hour adds fun lights and music for an extra special Open Jump that will have your little one bouncing and dancing all over the place! Make sure to bring a clean pair of socks for jumping and lots of water to stay hydrated. Bouncing burns a lot of energy and calories!
Bolton Pool is the city of Winston-Salem’s largest public pool, and it’s the perfect place to splash around and practice important swimming skills. On hot summer days, it’s ideal for cooling down and making wonderful summertime memories. They also have a zero-depth entry water playground perfect for toddler swimmers and splashers. Like all city pools, they offer free swimming lessons, though the lessons held at this particular location are mostly for older kids and adults. One of the biggest perks of bringing your toddler to Bolton Pool? Kids under the age of two get in for free!
There are so many parks in Winston-Salem that are perfect for toddler activities of exploration, discovery, and exercise! I’ve picked out a few of them to highlight for you, but it’s only scratching the surface!
Tanglewood Park has two playgrounds with swings and shaded areas for picnicking. There are restrooms, a nearby pond, and lots of great trails for hiking, walking, and biking. There’s even an onsite horse stable where you can ride for a fee! Tanglewood Park also has a pool with slides, a splash park, a lazy river, two dog parks, a golf course, tennis courts, and so much more. Throughout the year, it hosts a bunch of events, including the Festival of Lights!
Washington Park is perfect for family gatherings and active exercise, with a playground (featuring a big dinosaur!!), a 4.5-mile paved path, an exercise park, and a stream perfect for exploring and finding cute critters. There are shaded picnic shelters with grills, too!
Quarry Park features a series of paved sidewalks great for strollers, but wear your hat and pack your sunscreen because there isn’t much shade. There are some hills on the paths, so you’ll get a good workout in, too. There’s also a brand-new playground at this park with a climbing structure, trampolines, slides, and more!
Miller Park’s upper playground is fenced in and has new interactive games (think “Whack-A-Mole” and the electronic “Simon Says.” The lower park is much shadier and has a small slide for toddlers, swing sets, and a mini rock climbing structure. There are also plenty of walking paths, and while there are a few steps from time to time, there are always alternate paths for strollers.
Happy Hill Park is a newer park with a sunny splash pad, playground, a track with lanes, and a pavilion. It’s a great option to cool off on a hot day, but be sure to bring your sunscreen and hat to stay protected from that summer sun! When you’re ready to recharge, snack at the picnic tables and refresh yourself at their clean bathrooms, complete with showers.
