About Building Blocks Children’s Center

Building Blocks Children’s Center was started by Don and Joyce Jordan. The pair had recently moved from California to North Carolina when they realized they wanted to start a center that would provide parents with a space where they could know their children were receiving top-notch supervision in an environment that prioritized their health and wellness. Not only is the 7,900-square-foot center equipped with educational toys and open play space, but it also provides organic and natural food. The school has a partnership with Whole Foods to provide your child with the absolute best. The directors know how important it is to provide your child with holistic nutrition and give your child delicious and healthy meals at no extra cost. They also use non-toxic cleaners and natural personal care products.

The facility has a keypad entry to keep your child safe. They have separate classrooms where each child will have an appropriate space to learn and explore. There are two separate playgrounds at Building Blocks. The smaller playground contains tents for overly hot days as well as toddler-sized play equipment. The playground for older children has tricycles, larger play equipment, and tons of space to run around. All the teachers at the center are trained in CPR, First Aid, and SIDS prevention. They are licensed and have undergone background checks. Because Don and Joyce only hire people who align with their philosophy, throughout the entire staff, you’ll find the same great commitment to health and education.

Services

The center has programs tailored to each age. Their infant room starts at six weeks. Your child will get a space where they can play, explore, and rest. Because they focus on age-appropriate items cleaned with non-toxic products, you don’t have to stress about the moment when your baby inevitably decides that rattle actually does belong in their mouth. Thank you very much. As children age, they progress to the next class, where they’ll start to work on lessons while still having fun. Toddlers focus on building language skills, listening to engaging stories, chatting with their peers, and growing their gross motor skills.

Once your child graduates out of the toddler room, they’ll move into the preschool rooms. In this area, they’re going to start preparing for elementary school. They will keep working on their social and fine motor skills while starting to focus on more structured lessons. They’ll work through a weekly curriculum centered on reading and writing. They’ll also begin to focus on their self-help skills, such as learning to wash their hands, cleaning up after snacks, putting on shoes and jackets, using the toilet, and feeding themselves. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your child grows more independent!

Specialty

Building Blocks often provides after-school programs for children who might need supervision following the school day. The center is mindful of putting these kids in their own classes in a separate area. This way, your child will have all the assistance they need without having to worry about feeling infantilized.

If you’re looking for a way to get your kid out in nature over the summer, be sure to check out the center’s summer camp. The preschool and daycare classes keep up a regular curriculum while still ensuring your child is having the time of their life!

If you’re having doubts, the school provides a tour before you enroll. You’ll be able to see the classrooms, view the playing areas, and speak with the directors to ensure the school is the perfect match for your family.
